Like all my projects I start off with a paper prototype.
Unfortunately I do not have a CNC milling machine to do all the clean and accurate milling for me. The best I can do is a cheap cross slide vise from harbor freight and a 50 year old drill press (it is really 50 plus year old).
After a lot of cutting, drilling, milling, filing, and sanding I came up with something like this:
Here is my test fit of the lower motor brace. Everything seems to fit well, I just need to drill one more hole and clean up the edges.
The next thing I need is the motor plate. In the picture below I am have milled out the hole for the motor and now I am working on the groove to mount the motor.
Here is the finished product:
Test fit the motor mount on the Matrix and everything seems to look okay. Only time will tell if the motor plate need more support. Because the only thing holding it up are two 6-32 screws.
