After buying the lathe through craigslist I found out that the original tool post is very hard to use because I needed to shim the cutting bits every time I change it.
After doing a little research I found that a Quick Change Tool Post (QCTP) is the best solution to my problem. Littlemachineshop.com sold a variaty of differnt kinds of QCTP. At first I had my eye on the A2Z CNC Piston type QCTP but I did not like the idea of the tool post being made out of Aluminum. After further research, I found out that a wedge type QCTP is more durable, maybe it is due to the fact that it is made out of a soild block of steel.
For only $30 more I rather go with the more durable Tormach 0XA QCTP set, plus it comes with another boring bar holder and Knurling tool that the A2Z did not come with.
The Tormach 0XA Series 000 is all steel construction with 6 different types of holder, and all that for $129.99 + tax and $10 shipping. That is kind of pricey considering I only paid $200 for the lathe. Like always I will search on the web to find a better deal. Then I came across website called cnczone.com, were someone was selling the exact QCTP that I wanted. I looked at the date on the ad listing and it was about a month old, so the item might have been sold already. It does not hurt to try and email him to see if the QCTP is still available. In the ad he was asking $115 for the QCTP, so I sent an email asking if you would sell it for $100 shipped.
As you can see from the pictures the guy accepted the offer and sold it to me.
