Xaircraft x650 v4 - The Frame w/ SIGMA SS series Motor Mounts

After testing a few different multirotor frames I was not happy with the size of the Hexacopter. It was hard to transport the larger frames and most important of all it is impossible to travel with it. The ATG 600 would have been a great folding Hexa frame but it was too much of an hassle to fold the arms because there were screws that needed to be loosen in order to fold the arms. Then I came across the Xaircraft x650 v4. What I like about this frame is the bug shell cover, larger center frame and most importantly folding arms. After struggling to find space to mount everything on the ATG 600 frame I really like how the XA x650 frame has a lot more real state to mount everything. Plus having the ESC mounted on the arms really gave me a lot so free space to mount the FPV gear.

I was planning to use a set of 2814 size motor on the x650 frame but a fellow RCG member told me that it will not fit without modification. Or I could upgrade the arms to a SIGMA SS series Motor Mount and everything will be straight bolt on. As you can see, that is the route I took. With this new motor mount I will be able to tuck the ESC inside the motor mount because the new design incorporated a larger compartment for the ESC.

You can see in the picture below the original motor mount (top) is a lot smaller. The Sigma motor mount (bottom) is longer with a lager motor mounting area and ESC compartment.

Also with the Sigma motor mount increased the arm spam to support larger props.

Here is the x650 frame with all the Sigma motor mount installed with the arms in the collapsed position.

Now the arms are opened out.

I like the frame has lot of space to mount my electronics but I wish it had a built in distribution board like the DJI frames.

Here is the x650 with the bug shell mounted. I bought this frame used to the previous own painted the shell white. I bought an replacement shell so that will be coming in the mail shortly.
